The Great British Insulation Scheme

What Is The Great British Insulation Scheme?

Enhancing the insulation of your home stands out as a highly effective method for reducing energy expenses, as it prevents heat loss from both your walls and roof. However, it is often quite costly, which many people cannot afford.

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) has been designed to work alongside the existing ECO scheme, referred to as ECO4. The scheme aims to facilitate the installation of energy-efficient measures that will effectively reduce your energy consumption, resulting in cost savings on your utility bills. The fund aims to help around 300,000 people and could save homes around £300 a year.

In contrast to other programs, the Great British Insulation Scheme separates itself by offering enhanced assistance to individuals with the lowest incomes. It also extends support to a broader spectrum of households residing in the least energy-efficient homes across the nation.

What Is Covered Under The Scheme?

Families residing in lower council tax bands with less energy-efficient homes will have the opportunity to receive vital upgrades. This includes:

Flat Roof Insulation – This is an airtight, waterproof construction that leaves no spaces in between. It keeps the cold air out whilst creating a comfy temperature indoors.

Loft Insulation – A typical home without insulation can lose 25% of its heat through the roof. By adding insulation to your loft, you can keep your home warm as well as waste less energy.

Cavity Wall Insulation – This process involves insulating the cavity space between the exterior and interior walls, creating a barrier that prevents cold from coming in and heat from escaping.

The loft or cavity wall insulation is the most commonly suggested types; however, our installer will need to carry out a home survey first to suggest the best upgrade for your home.
