Internal Wall Insulation

What is Internal Wall Insulation?

Internal Wall Insulation is a process of adding a layer of insulating material to the inside of a property’s external walls. This is typically done using rigid insulation boards or a stud wall system, which is then covered with plasterboard to create a smooth, finished surface.

The insulation helps to reduce heat loss through the walls, making it a practical solution for homes with solid walls or properties where external wall insulation is not an option.

Internal wall insulation has increased in popularity in recent years due to its effectiveness in regulating indoor temperatures and reducing energy consumption.

Common Questions about Internal Wall Insulation Grants

The installation process typically takes a few days, depending on the size of your home and the type of insulation being fitted.

Internal wall insulation is designed to last for many years, typically 30 years or more, depending on the materials used and how well it’s maintained.

Internal wall insulation is ideal for homes with solid walls that don’t have a cavity, as these lose more heat compared to cavity walls.

It’s especially beneficial for older properties built before the 1920s or homes where external insulation isn’t possible, such as listed buildings or those in conservation areas.

Households looking to improve energy efficiency, save on heating costs, or reduce their carbon footprint will benefit the most from this solution.

A professional assessor will visit your home to evaluate the walls and determine if internal wall insulation is the right choice for you.

Yes, the ECO4 scheme also covers other types of insulation, including cavity wall insulation and loft insulation, depending on the eligibility criteria for your home.
