Solar panels
Use electricity as your panels generate it. This can suit households that use more power during the day or can shift appliances to daylight hours.
Solar plus battery
Store some surplus generation for the evening. Compare the extra battery cost against how much stored electricity you are likely to use.
Export your surplus
Eligible systems may earn payments for electricity sent to the grid through a Smart Export Guarantee tariff. Rates and requirements vary by supplier.
What to look for in your quote
Ask for panel-only and battery options so you can see the difference in price and expected performance.
- System size and output. Panel count, total capacity in kWp and estimated annual generation in kWh.
- Battery details. Usable capacity, equipment warranty and whether backup power is included.
- Installation scope. Scaffolding, electrical work, grid paperwork and any items charged separately.
- Savings assumptions. How much generation you’re expected to use, import and export rates, and whether finance costs are included.

Will solar eliminate my electricity bill?
Solar can reduce the electricity you buy from the grid. The amount depends on generation, when you use power and your tariff. Standing charges and grid imports can still apply.
Will a battery work during a power cut?
Backup requires compatible equipment and a system designed for that purpose. If you need it, ask which circuits would be supported and for how long.
Can I compare payment options?
Ask about available payment options when you enquire. If finance is offered, review the written terms, eligibility and total amount payable before deciding.
