Government-backed BUS funding

FUNDING TOWARDS YOUR UPGRADE

How much BUS funding could you receive?

These grants support qualifying air-to-water heat pump installations. The amount depends on your existing heating and gas-grid status, rather than whether you live in England or Wales.

Eligible oil or LPG heated homes

Up to £9,000

For qualifying off-gas-grid properties replacing oil or LPG heating. This includes a £1,500 uplift to the standard £7,500 grant.

The uplift is available until 31 March 2027. Off-gas-grid eligibility must be confirmed; capped or clamped mains gas connections do not qualify.

Eligible gas or electrically heated homes

£7,500

The standard BUS grant towards an air-to-water heat pump replacing eligible gas or electric heating, including electric boilers and storage heaters.

You do not need to receive benefits. Scheme eligibility and technical requirements still apply.

BUS is a contribution towards installation costs. Energy Efficient You Ltd’s £0 contribution offer applies only to standard qualifying installations where the full agreed cost is covered.

What does £0 contribution mean?

If your property qualifies for our standard fully funded installation, you pay nothing towards the agreed heat pump installation.

Your survey checks the heat pump size, outdoor space, hot water requirements, radiators, pipework and electrical supply. You receive a written specification and quote confirming what is included.

Any additional works or optional upgrades that carry a charge will be identified for you to review and agree before work starts.

A modern way to heat your home

An air source heat pump takes heat from the outside air and transfers it to water for your heating and hot water system. It can operate even in cold weather.

With the right design, it provides steady, comfortable warmth and can reduce heating emissions. Running costs depend on insulation, system design, electricity tariffs and how you use your heating.

Your survey will establish whether an air-to-water heat pump is suitable for your property.

Could your property qualify?

  • Your property is in England or Wales.
  • You own the property, including a home you rent out as a landlord.
  • You are replacing an eligible oil, LPG, gas or electric heating system.
  • The proposed installation meets BUS requirements and is carried out by an MCS-certified installer.
  • Your property has not already received public funding for the same heat pump installation.

Private tenants should involve their landlord, as the property owner must authorise the BUS application.

A modern way to heat your home

BUS is not means tested: income and benefits are not the basis for grant eligibility.

Social housing and most new builds are excluded. Certain self-build and completed new-build properties may qualify, subject to the scheme rules.

Replacing an existing heat pump or installing a hybrid system combining a heat pump with a fossil fuel boiler is not eligible.

Grant eligibility does not automatically mean an installation qualifies for our £0 contribution offer. Both are checked before installation.

Your BUS questions answered

No. Our £0 contribution offer depends on scheme eligibility, property suitability and the agreed installation cost. Your survey and written quote confirm whether your installation can be fully funded.

No. BUS is not a means-tested scheme. Homeowners and landlords can apply without receiving benefits, subject to the scheme rules.

No. The same BUS grant structure applies in both countries. The £9,000 amount is for eligible off-gas-grid oil or LPG properties; the standard air-to-water heat pump grant is £7,500.

A park home may qualify where it meets BUS requirements and the proposed installation is suitable. Contact us to check ownership, the existing heating system and property details.

BUS funds eligible heating installations. Insulation and other improvements are not automatically included. We will explain any work needed and any costs before you decide to proceed.

It can, but savings are not guaranteed. They depend on your previous heating fuel, the heat pump’s efficiency, your home’s heat demand, energy prices and your tariff.
